STAR CITY- The death penalty has been presented for a Star City couple found guilty of capital murder, in the death of their 11-year-old son this past June.
Prosecuting attorney for Jefferson and Lincoln counties, Kyle Hunter, said Wednesday that the nature of this crime justifies the penalty. 38-year-old David Black and 30-year-old Mary Black were charged in June in the death of 11-year-old Joseph Carsello.
Carsello died of multiple blunt force trauma, injuries to his head, and the Blacks acknowledged hitting the young boy in the face with their hands for “back talking”.
