Fresh off Foo Fighters‘ Rock Hall induction announcement, Dave Grohl served as co-host on Monday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Here are some of the highlights:

Following their monologue, Jimmy brought up a meme in which YouTubers took the Foo Fighters song “The Best of You” and remixed it so that the line “The best” kept repeating over and over.  Fallon then coaxed Dave into performing a live version of the meme, which turned into a screaming match between the two.

Next, Dave joined Jimmy for a game of “Off Songs, Song Off,” where they took turns identifying popular songs played either in the wrong key, wrong tempo or the wrong genre.

During an interview segment, the Foo Fighters’ frontman discussed his Paramount+ series From the Cradle to the Stage and his What Drives Us documentary about touring and specifically van touring culture, available on The Coda Collection via Amazon Prime.

The subject of Grohl’s friendship with Beatles members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr came up, and Grohl discussed the time Paul came over to his house to meet his then-newborn daughter Ophelia.

“And so he came over and we hung out, and there was a piano in our living room, and as he was leaving, it’s like he couldn’t resist and he just sat down and he started playing ‘Lady Madonna’ on the piano in my living room,” he recalled.

“Then, my daughter, Harper, who was, like, four-years-old at the time, she runs into the kitchen, she gets a coffee cup, she fills it full of spare change and puts it on the piano like a tip jar,” he added.

Dave also took part in an in-studio interview with Lil Nas X.
