The Sheridan City Council has filled a position that has been vacant since summer.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, David Damron will fill the Ward 2 position that was created when Norman Frisby resigned because he was upset about the decision of Sheridan Police Chief Jason Teague to not enforce Governor Asa Hutchinson’s mask mandate.

The newspaper reported that Damron serves as the Vice President of People’s Bank where he has worked for 10 years.

Damron told the newspaper that when he heard about the vacancy on the city council, he knew he had to give back to the community that had given him so much.

He will take office at the council’s next meeting and will serve the remainder of Frisby’s term, which expires at the end of next year.
