Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson said Tuesday that a county-wide curfew similar to the curfew adopted by the City of Pine Bluff is on his radar.

Speaking on the Morning Show with Greg Horne and Will Jenkins, Robinson said he has received calls from individuals reporting gatherings of more than 10 people.

Robinson said the Jefferson County Quorum Court will not meet until April 7 for committees and he wants to get them involved but said he has prepared a temporary curfew that he can roll out with a court order.

Asked if he was considering a curfew which would basically be 24 hours, Robinson said the county would “piggy-back” on the city’s curfew.

“People still have jobs they have to go to,” Robinson said.

He said a curfew would aim at people who are “under cover of darkness doing things,” adding that if the situation gets worse and the coronavirus is still spreading, extending the curfew to other hours might be necessary.

The first positive case of coronavirus was reported in Jefferson County and Robinson said the county is still among the leaders in reported cases testing positive for the virus.

More than a week ago, Robinson said about 50 houses, most of them in Pine Bluff were under quarantine and on Tuesday said that number has increased but he did not have an exact figure, adding that it changed every day.
