Courage Under Fire Honoring Lt Jay-Ryan Woods with the Invictus Award

On October 14, 2024, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, the Division on Law Enforcement Standards and Training awarded the Invictus Award to Poinsett County Sheriff’s Lt. Jay-Ryan Woods.

This recognition was given during the Poinsett County Quorum Court meeting for his bravery during a pursuit in September 2023.

The incident involved an exchange of gunfire with a murder suspect from Alabama, during which the suspect was injured. Lt. Woods provided immediate medical assistance and displayed exceptional courage and composure in a high-pressure situation.

The Invictus Award was established in August 2023 to honor law enforcement officers who demonstrate extraordinary service.

The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office is the second agency to receive this award.

Present at the ceremony were Division Director Chris Chapmond, Division Deputy Director Eric Wacaster, DPS Secretary Colonel Mike Hagar, Sheriff Kevin Molder, and Arkansas Representative Dwight Tosh.
