At the end of July, Jefferson County had more than $3-million in the County General Fund, almost double the amount that was in the fund a year ago.

According to the Treasurer’s report, the fund contained $3,236,375.89 compared to $1,811,449.71 on July 31, 2020.

Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson talked about the $3-milion with Deltaplex News.

The report showed that the county had more than $20-million when all funds are combined which is almost $6- million more than for the same period in 2020.

Jefferson County has collected $60.5 million so far this year and spent $56.9 million. For the same period in 2020, the county collected $46.1 million and spent $42.3 million.

The report showed that the county’s share of tax receipts from the Saracen Casino was $155,732.48.
