Early voting continues at the Jefferson County Courthouse through the end of this week and will culminate the day before the May 24 Political Party primaries.

Jefferson County Clerk Shawndra Taggart, whose office is responsible for early voting, was asked Wednesday how it was going so far.

Taggart said the office will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, and on May 23, the day before the primary will open for early voting during regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registered voters can also cast their ballots this Saturday from 10  a.m. to 4 p.m.

On election day, the polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Taggart said people who are unsure of where to vote can call her office at 870-541-5322 and a deputy clerk will look up the information.

She also promoted a state website where voters can look at ballots for the political party primaries, as well as the non-partisan judicial races.
