With no dissent, the Pine Bluff City Council on Monday adopted a resolution authorizing a survey of the city’s boundary lines. On Deltaplex Radio Thursday, Councilmember Joni Alexander was asked if the resolution, sponsored by Councilmember Steven Mays, had anything to do with the 71602 zip code, a subject Mays has consistently railed about.

Alexander said the 71602 zip code controversy has been discussed since she came back to Pine Bluff in 2015. Getting a survey to determine school district boundary lines is not a difficult process, she said, explaining that petitions can be submitted to the state asking them to look at the boundary lines.

“I’m not saying that conspiracies don’t exist but if you can’t prove the conspiracies, why to keep bringing them up,” she said.

She also talked about Mays and how he has been successful every time he’s run for the council.
