The Pine Bluff City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution extending the spending guidelines at the same level as was approved in the 2021 budget.

The resolution sponsored by Mayor Shirley Washington notes that the city has not currently approved a 2022 budget and authority is needed for the city government to continue operations and spend money in the new year.

Councilmember Joni Alexander asked for an update on the status of the 2022 budget and the Mayor who attended the meeting by Zoom responded this way.

Washington said that it would probably be Monday or Tuesday before the recommendations and report from the financial consultants would be completed and said the clerk will notify all council members of the date and time of the meeting.

Council Member Glen Brown Jr., chaired the meeting in the absence of Robinson. Other items approved were ordinances amending sections of the city code as they relate to the International Property Maintenance and the Electrical Code and an ordinance permitting the city to do business with Michael Gillard for audio-visual services.
