In a wide-ranging interview on Deltaplex News Tuesday, Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington said every member of the City Council needs to cooperate on issues to improve the city and said members of the council who also run for Mayor have been a major problem.
Washington said the Arkansas Municipal League has provided information on the subject which she previously looked at but stopped because she had “so many irons in the fire that sometimes she drops the ball” and got sidetracked completing the research.
During the last Mayoral election, Washington was opposed by Council Members Steven Mays and Ivan Whitfield, neither of whom was up for reelection at that time.
