The Sheridan City Council in its first meeting of the year heard an update on concession stand renovations at the city’s ballpark.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, the top of the current facility will be renovated, and the downstairs restrooms will be remodeled and expanded. The project will also include a dressing room and shower for the umpires.

Sheridan Mayor Joe Wise said the lack of restrooms played a part in the city not being selected to host tournaments in the past few years.

Wise also told the council that an application for a grant to fund the third phase of the walking path project had been turned down by the state but he would reapply and expected to get it approved this year.

The newspaper reported that crews are currently working on the first phase of the project which will connect the middle and high schools along High Street. The second phase, which has not begun, will connect the recreation center with Gray Oaks Subdivision.
