LITTLE ROCK — Lace up your walking shoes and “Be a Part of the Cure” when the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) hosts its first-ever community walk honoring all Arkansas cancer patients.

The Be a Part of the Cure Walk is set for 8 a.m.-1 p.m. May 1 at War Memorial Stadium and outdoor course and will honor those who have lost their battle with cancer, cancer survivors and their loved ones, as well as raise funds for research programs at the Cancer Institute. A decision will be made by April 15 if this event will be virtual only.

Cost for adults to participate is $25 and includes a mask and event T-shirt. Cost increases to $30 after March 31. Cost for youth ages 10-17 is $10 and includes a mask.

Walkers from across Arkansas are welcome to participate in person or virtually, rain or shine. Participants can enjoy live entertainment and food while also having the opportunity to learn about prevention, treatment and research programs provided by the Cancer Institute.

The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute is Arkansas’ only academic cancer treatment and research center, offering a full-range of cancer therapies for all Arkansans, including the most recent advances in chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy.
