RISON – A new website dedicated to promoting local events and attractions in Cleveland County has been launched through the efforts of the Kickstart Cleveland County Community Development Initiative.

The address for the new website is clevelandcountyarkansas.com. It was designed by Douglas Boultinghouse, graphic artist for the Cleveland County Herald, which is sponsoring the website.

“This is just the next step in our overall plan to begin promoting the county to folks from beyond our borders,” said Britt Talent, a member of the Kickstart Cleveland County steering committee.

“This is just the start,” Talent said. “We expect this website to continue to grow as we add content after progress has been made with some of the community development projects we have underway across the county.”

One of the prominent features of the new website is the establishment of a county-wide community calendar.  Having a calendar to track all of the events should make scheduling easier. Calendar events can be submitted through email to [email protected] or by calling Cleveland County Herald office at 870-325-6412

Using donations from local individuals and businesses, Kickstart Cleveland County bought a full-page ad in the Arkansas Land of Legends tourism guide. The ad encourages people to visit clevelandcountyarkansas.com for more information.

Land of Legends is a four-county tourism cooperative that includes Cleveland, Grant, Lincoln and Jefferson Counties. The tourism guide is distributed by Arkansas Parks & Tourism through the state visitor’s centers as well as travel shows in surrounding states.

Talent said this was the first time that Cleveland County has taken an active role in the tourism cooperative.
