Cleveland County has bought new equipment for its road department, according to the Cleveland County Herald.

At its recent meeting, County Judge Jimmy Cummins told the Quorum Court the county had purchased a 2021Mack Dump Truck for $48,000 from Dumas Motors and a cross belly dump trailer for $43,075.

Cunningham said the dump trailer will allow the road crew to spread material over a greater area at a much faster speed than what the county had been doing with a dump truck and grader.

The judge also reported that damage to the Sheriff’s Office that had occurred after a wind and rain storm in December was being repaired and during the repairs, some of the wood decking under the shingles had been rotting and leaks were reported.

He said no leaks were reported after the repairs. In addition, repairs to the roof at the jail are about 95 percent complete.
