Pine Bluff native Chris Jones, who announced Tuesday that he is running for Governor, sat down with Deltaplex News Thursday to talk about his candidacy.

Jones, who graduated from Watson Chapel High School and MIT, is the fourth Democratic candidate to announce and was asked what separated him from the other candidates in the race.

Arkansas is among several states with current Republican governors who have announced they will not accept additional federal money to enhance unemployment benefits and Jones was asked if he were governor, would he do the same thing.

Jones was also asked about social issues, specifically gun control and abortion.

On both abortion and gun control, Jones said the issues deserve more than short sound bites. “They’re complex and people have challenges they face dealing with them.”

While he attended Watson Chapel, Jones said he ran track and referred to that when asked what the governor could do to help education in the state.
