Pine Bluff Police Chief Kelvin Sergeant on Tuesday said the 15-year-old student who was shot at Watson Chapel Junior High School on Monday was reportedly in critical condition at a Little Rock hospital.

Speaking to Deltaplex News, Sergeant said it will be up to prosecutors to decide whether to charge the 15-year-old student accused of the shooting as an adult or as a juvenile.

After the call went out on police radio about the shooting, the first officers were on the scene within two minutes and Sergeant talked about that.

He went on to say that detectives are still interviewing students at the school and are looking at a possible gang related motive for the shooting and was asked what might motivate a 15-year-old to shoot another 15-year-old.
