Cedric Thornton, former Star City High School and Southern Arkansas University football player, has announced his retirement after seven years in the NFL.
Thornton, who is 30, signed with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent in July. Last year, he was with the Buffalo Bills. He spent a year with the Dallas Cowboys and five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles after making the team as an undrafted free agent.
He ends his playing career with 220 tackles, 7.5 sacks, six passes defended, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He also appeared in three career postseason contests.
