A White Hall man was arrested Monday following an investigation into the theft of a vehicle.

James Phillips, 62, who has more than four prior felony convictions and pending drug and weapons charges will have to post a $10,000 cash-only bond to be released from the adult detention center after Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth ruled Tuesday prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with theft by receiving.

Reading from an affidavit from Investigator Morgan Carter, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said on March 2, Carter assisted deputies who were investigating a battery report on Rogers Road. The victim said three suspects had battered him and left in a white pickup truck toward Sulphur Springs Road.

Deputies located the truck at a residence on Providence Road and ran the license plate which returned to a man in Pine Bluff. When he was contacted, he said the truck had been missing for two weeks and he had reported it stolen.

James Phillips and his wife were interviewed Monday and James Phillips said this.

Phillips was told to come back to court April 10.
