Early this week, legislation approving mobile sports betting was approved by a committee of the Arkansas Legislature.

On Friday, Carlton Saffa, chief marketing officer for the Saracen Casino and Resort appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show and was asked where they are in terms of the app, Bet Saracen.

Saffa said casino officials began the process about 18 months ago, talking to the State Racing Commission, which governs casinos in Arkansas, legislators, and others.

He said the app will monitor customers betting history, for example, if a customer bets on basketball, they will see basketball themes, if they traditionally bet on Razorback games but missed a game, the app will send a reminder.

Saffa was asked when the system would be legal and said this.

He also talked about the impact the sports betting app would have on revenue for Pine Bluff and Jefferson County.
