A Camden man was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Ouachita County.

According to a preliminary report, Jeffrey Jamal McKinney, 24, was southbound on U.S. 79 in the outside lane when the 2007 Nissan he was driving crossed the center line into the inside lane of traffic where it struck a 2000 Ford that was also southbound. After impact, the Nissan overturned several times and McKinney was ejected.

The accident was reported at 4:55 a.m. near Arkansas Highway 9 and, according to the report, the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time.

The death was the 297th so far this year on the state’s highways.
