The Rison School Board voted unanimously to hire Caleb Carmikle as the Wildcat’s 21st head football coach in a special called board meeting Monday night. Carmikle will come to Rison from Magnet Cove where he had a record of 39-30 as head football coach. He will replace Clay Totty, who was recently hired by Wynne after coaching at Rison for 25 years.

Carmikle spoke with Deltaplex News Monday night saying it was going to take a special place to get him away from Magnet Cove, and Rison was that place.

Carmikle spoke about the process of deciding to take a look at the job, and how some of that process went for him.

Deltaplex News was told that Carmikle received the offer to be head coach on Saturday while he was at the coaching clinic in Hot Springs. He confirmed that rumor as being true.

He also spoke about the style of offense he would like to bring to Rison, saying he has had a chance to evaluate game film to see what he will have moving forward.

Carmikle said he has a few responsibilities left to complete at Magnet Cove before he moves to Rison full time, but he hopes to make that move by March.
