Two former members of the Pine Bluff City Council who are seeking to return to office faced off Monday on Oldies 101.3 as each touted their qualifications and the reasons voters should choose them when they go to the polls.

Democrat Glen Brown Sr., who was beaten in 2016 by current Third Ward Council member Donald Hatchett defeated Hatchett in the March Democratic primary while Bill Brumett lost to current Council Member Ivan Whitfield in the 2018 Democratic primary and is running as in Independent.

Municipal elections in Pine Bluff were formerly non-partisan but that changed when the council adopted an ordinance dealing with party affiliations. Brown and then Brumett were asked about that and about the importance or non-importance of a partisan race.
