U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-Ark.) recently spoke with the press concerning a number of national issues with significance to all four corners of Arkansas.

Senator Boozman addressed a range of topics from negotiations in Congress over the next five-year farm bill to the ongoing shortage of healthcare professionals in the country.

Boozman, who serves as the ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, detailed the importance of the farm bill as a tool to ensure America’s farmers and producers receive the support they need to thrive.

Boozman has held a number of listening sessions to hear the concerns and feedback from agricultural producers across the state. He said the top concerns remain record-high inflation affecting fuel, feed, fertilizers, and other agricultural commodities. He said financing issues and interest rates are also economically impacting farmers in the United States.

Another critical issue facing Arkansas and the broader nation is the ongoing shortage of healthcare professionals. That shortage was acute before the rise of COVID-19 and has only gotten more severe since the pandemic.

This month the Arkansas Department of Health announced three more counties on its list of areas facing a shortage of healthcare professionals. It’s an issue that will continue to grow if left unchecked, said Boozman.

Boozman – a trained healthcare professional himself – detailed several initiatives he’s spearheading aimed at addressing the shortage and meeting the health needs of Arkansans.

Boozman invites Arkansans to learn more about these initiatives and other efforts he’s leading, including several important programs aimed at assisting U.S. veterans, by visiting his website at www.boozman.senate.gov.
