Booneville police are investigating after they responded to a domestic disturbance call and found a woman dead in her home.

According to Chief Rusty Lewis with the Booneville Police Department, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call from a home on E. South Street around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Lewis said police have possible suspect information, but it has not been released at this time.

The woman was identified by family members as 22-year-old Rachel King.

King’s neighbor, Jamie Crawford, said she was told to stay in her home when they arrived because there had just been a shooting.

“We later found out that Ms. Rachel King was shot in her home and her three children were left in bed with her,” Crawford said.

King’s children, ages two, three, and four, were inside the home when police arrived.

Crawford said King’s boyfriend was “still on the run,” but that “hopefully by now they’ve caught him, by the good grace of God.”

Updates to follow when more information is known.
