A $100,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man currently on federal probation on allegations stemming from a shooting Thursday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Justin Boose, 24, with first-degree battery, aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said police responded to a reported shooting at St. John Apartments and talked to Boose, who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital for treatment.

Detective Michael Merritt reported police also took a statement from a female and West told the court the woman got into a verbal altercation with Booze and a male tried to intervene on her behalf.

She said there was a struggle and the gun went off hitting the male who was also taken to the hospital and could not be interviewed because he was in surgery.

When Boose was questioned, he said he had paid the woman for sex and said the gun was not his.

Boose was ordered to have no contact with the victims until the case is settled.
