A $25,000 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man arrested Tuesday after allegedly being involved in an altercation with several other people.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Austin Brandon, 26, with aggravated assault.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Brandon allegedly struck one female and began choking a second before he was hit by a relative who was trying to break up the altercation.

Detective Steve Rucker reported that Brandon resisted arrest and while being transported to the adult detention center, allegedly admitted striking one of the women and attempting to choke the other.

When he was questioned, he denied being intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.

Kearney ordered Brandon to have no contact with the alleged victims until the case is settled. The judge also entered a not guilty plea for Brandon on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and assault on a family or household member.
