Body found April 30th near Jefferson Lock and Dam Identified

UPDATE –  Jefferson County, Arkansas – May 11, 2021 -The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office began conducting a death investigation near Lock and Dam 5 in Jefferson, Arkansas on April 30, 2021.  Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an area off of Bartlett Road along the Arkansas River where an unidentified body had been found at the edge of the water by fishermen.

The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab and on today, May 11, 2021, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division was notified that the identity of the remains is that of Mr. Alan Buckles Sr. age 63 of Little Rock, AR.  The cause of death is not yet known.  Mr. Buckles had been reported as missing to the Little Rock Police Department in December 2020.  Mr. Buckles’ vehicle had been found unattended in a parking lot of Murray Park in Little Rock in December.  The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is working with Detectives from the Little Rock Police Department as this investigation is ongoing.
