A Pine Bluff pizza parlor was one of 11 restaurants statewide named as finalists for the 2023 Arkansas Food Hall of Fame.

Big Banjo Pizza was selected for the list by patrons who voted for the restaurant in October.

Black Angus of Little Rock and Betty’s Old Fashioned of El Dorado also made the list of finalists, as did eating places in eight other locations in the state.

In the competition for proprietor of the year, Jamie McAfee of the Pine Bluff Country Club was joined by Chuck Taylor of Taylor’s Steakhouse of Dumas, Chester and Laura Huntsman of Beech Street Bistro in Crossett and James Woods of Woods Place in Camden. Owners of restaurants in Conway and Little Rock were also on the list.

According to Arkansas Heritage, over 1,800 submissions from all 75 counties in the state were received during the voting period.

The winners will be announced during a ceremony on March 6 at the Central Arkansas Library System’s Ron Robinson Theater.
