Baseball Loses First-Ever Meeting At #10 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team lost 16-4 in seven innings at #10 Arkansas in the first-ever matchup between the teams.

Larry Sims and Bryce Roesch each had two hits in the contest for the Golden Lions, who return to action Friday at 3 p.m. hosting Grambling at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.

After falling behind early, UAPB scored in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. Ryan Mallison reached on an error to lead off the third, and advanced to second on a throwing error. With one out, Sergio Esparza’s single through the right side scored the Golden Lions’ first run.

In the fourth, Ricardo Sanchez, Sims and Roesch had three straight singles to load the bases. With two outs, a walk to Ryan Mallison scored Sanchez.

UAPB added two runs in the sixth. With one out, Roesch singled through the left side, and Jarficur Parker and Mallison earned back-to-back walks to load the bases. Tywan Mackey
Jr.’s pinch-hit single to right scored Roesch. With two out, Nick Kreutzer walked to scored Parker.
