Revitalizing Downtown Pine Bluff continued this past Thursday at Barraque Plaza as the Pine Bluff  Regional Chamber of Commerce revealed new roof shades as a part of the revitalization effort.

In 2016, the sail-cloth shading canopy of Barraque Plaza was ripped away due to strong winds and has been gone since the occurrence. This project was funded by grants totaling $30,000.

“I look out here in the afternoon and people are sitting out here and in the mornings, too,” says Pine Bluff Downtown Development, Inc. Executive Director Joy Blankenship. “They enjoy their lunch or they are here waiting on somebody. It just gives me a great feeling. I’ve heard that chess clubs have been here playing chess, so that’s what we want. This is a public space for everybody.”

There are plans in place for more work to be down in downtown Pine Bluff to add to the beautification in the city.
