The Pine Bluff School District is working to improve the overall structure of the district, and they have started taking greater steps towards improvement since the introduction of the Limited Control School Board was appointed earlier this year.

The district is working to regain full control from the State of Arkansas, and the limited control board is just the first step towards that goal.

Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree spoke with Deltaplex News about the new board, and complimented them on the work they are doing so far.

Barbaree said things are going well with transitioning the Dollarway and Pine Bluff students into one district.

When asked what she believes the district needs to improve on, Barbaree said they need to work on being more fiscally responsible.

Barbaree said the district also needs to work towards improving academics, but they made good strides this year working towards that goal.
