On Saturday, the White County Sheriff’s Department received information from the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division regarding a two-year-old that had been admitted into the White County Unity Health Emergency Room by his mother with life-threatening injuries to his head.

The child was flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

A Bald Knob man has been arrested after he caused these life-threatening injuries to his girlfriend’s son.

Michael Kent, 22

The White County Sheriff’s Office found the mother’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Brandon Michael Kent, to be a primary suspect after interviews with the child’s brother. On Monday, Kent turned himself in at the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Department. He was transported back to the White County Sheriff’s Office and interviewed by detectives.

Kent was arrested for first-degree domestic battery and booked into the White County Detention Center and will appear before the White County Circuit Court on Wednesday. During that time, a bond will be set.
