A Pine Bluff man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly pointed a gun at a relative.

Richard Smith, 56, was taken into custody after police were sent to a residence in the 4900 block of West Short Barraque St., at 1:47 p.m.

Deputy Prosecutor Carol Billings said during a court hearing Thursday that Smith’s brother told officers he was outside when his brother, who lives across the street came out of his house, pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot him.

The alleged victim said his 9-year-old son recorded the incident on his phone and Billings said the video matched the victim’s statement.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $5,000 bond for Smith after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault on a family or household member.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Smith, who was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled.
