An Arkansas woman says her leg had to be amputated after she was bitten by a brown recluse spider.

Kiara Boulton of West Memphis told that she noticed a bump on her foot as she was getting out of the shower in her apartment. Three days later, one of her toes had turned black.

Boulton said doctors initially prescribed medicine for the bite, but an infection spread and she had to have her leg amputated above the knee. She’s reportedly had seven surgeries since being bitten.

Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, where Boulton said she first sought treatment for the spider bite, said it could not comment on her case because of medical privacy laws.
