The American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout is not until November 17th, but a new survey says that maybe it should start today in the Natural State.

The World Health Organization says about 22% of the global population uses tobacco, and in Arkansas, those numbers are standing up.

The website nicerx.com has determined that 20.2% of Arkansans are smokers. That is a number that ranks Arkansas 6th in the nation.

Even more troubling is the fact that the state has the 3rd most smoking related deaths per capita, trailing only West Virginia and Kentucky.

If there is one bright spot in the new survey, the United States is only 31st in the amount of smoking related deaths in the world.
