Arkansas falls to LSU, 34-10

Arkansas struggled from the start and was unable to recover as No. 8 LSU secured a 34-10 victory on Saturday night at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. LSU capitalized on three Arkansas turnovers and dominated on the ground with 158 rushing yards compared to Arkansas’ 38. The Tigers also controlled the clock, maintaining possession for 38 minutes and 51 seconds compared to Arkansas’ 21 minutes and 9 seconds.

LSU freshman Caden Durham was a standout performer, rushing for 101 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier completed 22 of 33 passes for 224 yards.

For Arkansas, Taylen Green completed 21 of 31 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown to Andrew Armstrong, who recorded seven catches for 94 yards. Ja’Quinden Jackson contributed 26 yards on five carries but exited the game in the fourth quarter with a lower leg injury.

Penalties were an issue for both teams. LSU committed 10 penalties for 75 yards, while Arkansas had 7 penalties for 78 yards. Arkansas coach Sam Pittman acknowledged LSU’s physical play and noted areas for his team to improve, including reducing turnovers and improving on third downs.

LSU took an early lead with a 7-0 advantage after a touchdown run by Caden Durham. The Tigers extended their lead to 13-0 with two field goals. Arkansas responded with a touchdown pass from Green to Andrew Armstrong, narrowing the gap to 13-7. However, LSU added another field goal to lead 16-7 at halftime.

In the second half, Arkansas managed a field goal to make it 16-10. LSU then increased their lead with another touchdown from Durham and a two-point conversion, making it 24-10. The Tigers added another field goal and a third touchdown from Durham to seal the 34-10 win. Arkansas’ final turnover occurred in the last moments of the game.
