A $5,000 bond was set Thursday for a woman previously convicted of domestic battery. She had been arrested on Tuesday following an altercation in Altheimer.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Carmen Barnes, 35, with second offense third-degree domestic battery, a felony.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Jay Gerard said a sheriff’s deputy was sent to a residence in Altheimer in response to a reported armed disturbance and when the deputy arrived met with a female victim who said she and Barnes had gotten into a verbal and physical altercation over a set of bedsheets.

The victim said Barnes yelled and cursed at her and she told Barnes to leave. Gerard described what happened next.

The deputy reported seeing redness and bruising on the victim’s face and bleeding on an arm with what appeared to be a puncture wound.

Barnes and the male, identified as Dale Goodloe, 48, were gone when the deputy arrived, and they were arrested later. Goodloe has since bonded out on a misdemeanor charge of third-degree battery.

Barnes was ordered to have no contact with the victim and said she would hire her own attorney.
