A shortage of available workers is a problem affecting businesses throughout the United States and Pine Bluff faces its own challenges in that matter.

Whether it’s a fast-food restaurant or a manufacturing plant, employers are offering sign-on bonuses and higher wages to attract applicants.

Allison Thompson, President, and CEO of the Economic Development Alliance for Jefferson County appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Wednesday and talked about the problem.

Thompson, whose job includes recruiting industries and manufacturing jobs to Pine Bluff and Jefferson County said that things are getting better after more than a year of not being able to business and industry representatives face to face.

She was also asked if she was seeing some industries which had been located overseas coming back to America.
