The Pine Bluff City Council held its last regular meeting of the year Monday, mostly addressing budget concerns that were presented in the meeting prior. Mayor Shirley Washington vetoed resolutions increasing the pay of part-time police officers and paying a bonus to all city employees that were adopted in last month’s meeting.

Council member Joni Alexander joined Oldies 101.3 morning show Tuesday stating that specific council members are not communicating that they can or can not make it to meetings, which she feels is happening on purpose. Alexander mentioned that Monday’s meeting was supposed to be her last but a special meeting will be called to finalize the budget.

She also went on to say this.

Co-host Will Jenkins asked Alexander if the money was there for those bonuses and raises.

On another subject, Alexander was asked about the revenue being received from the casino.

Host Greg Horne mentioned that Alexander voted for those bonuses and asked why the casino money would be an issue.
