AHLP and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity to host blood drive with Arkansas Blood Institute

The City of Pine Bluff Advancing Health Literacy Program (AHLP) and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity inc. are hosting a Blood Drive on January 14th from 10 am to 2 pm with the Arkansas Blood Institute. The drive is to obtain blood donations and enlighten the community on National Blood Donor Month.

On Thursday, Deseray McKinzy the media coordinator for AHLP was featured on the 99.3 Talk Back Live morning show with Floyd Donald, with featured guest Darren Shaw from the blood institute and Torre Anderson from the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity inc.

Shaw is the representative for Jefferson County for the blood institute and was asked about the event’s purpose.

Shaw was also asked about the importance of donating blood to the community.

In relation to educating the community on being a donor, Shaw explained their efforts locally.

Anderson was asked how his organization responded to hosting the drive.

If you’re interested in scheduling to give a donation Saturday, visit arkbi.org where you can schedule ahead of time before midnight Friday. If you can’t schedule by the deadline, they are accepting walk-ins at the drive and all participants 17 and older will need proof of I.D. Aged 16 will be accepted to donate after parental consent.
