On Friday, Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington announced that Police Chief Lloyd Franklin will be retiring on July 20.

Franklin spoke with Deltaplex News Monday and explained the reason for his decision.

Franklin, who had retired as a Captain with the Arkansas State Police was appointed Pine Bluff Police Chief by Washington in July of last year, and in that year, more arrests have been made for a variety of crimes including homicides.

Deltaplex News asked Franklin what his plans for the future are and he answered this way.


The Mayor Announced that current Deputy Chief Denise Richardson will replace Franklin and he was asked about Richardson.
