The Arkansas State Police have been called to investigate the death of two inmates who have been found dead in a 24-hour period.

Each death happened at different state prisons. One of the deaths was at Ouachita River Correctional Unit in Malvern where inmate Robert White was found dead from an apparent suicide on Sunday. Responding correctional officers and medical staff performed emergency medical treatment; however, White was not revived and was pronounced dead Sunday at 9:53pm. He was a 42-year-old white male serving a 20-year sentence.

On Monday, the staff at the Varner Unit in Grady found inmate Randall Myers unresponsive in his cell at approximately 3:43 a.m. Responding correctional officers and medical staff performed emergency medical treatment, but Myers was pronounced dead at 4:27 a.m. He was a 29-year-old white male serving 15-year sentence.

Arkansas State Police will conduct investigations in both deaths. Internal investigations will be conducted by Department of Corrections as well.
