Two people were killed, and two others injured in separate traffic accidents on Interstate 530, one northbound and the other southbound.

According to preliminary reports from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, Terry Glass, 36, of Little Rock was killed when he lost control of the 2007 Lincoln Town Car he was driving, and the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Douglas McCury at 12:48 a.m.

The accident was reported at Exit 20 (Redfield) at 11:50 p.m. Sunday.

Early Monday, Athciri Martinez, 25, of Hamburg was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 530 south at Highway 114 in Lincoln County.

According to the preliminary report, Martinez was southbound in a 2019 Hyundai Tucson when a 2006 Dodge Ram driven by John Hodges Jr., 43, of Kelly, Louisiana crossed the center line and struck the vehicle driven by Martinez, which then overturned.

Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Jimmy Hawkins at 7:24 a.m.

Hodges and a juvenile passenger in Martinez’s vehicle were taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital and UAMS at Little Rock.

That accident was reported at 6:13 a.m.

There have now been 163 deaths on the state’s highways so far this year.
