A Pine Bluff man currently on parole was arrested in the early morning hours Friday on drug related charges.

Shane Lampkin, 46, was taken into custody after he and another man ran from officers who were working a special detail attempting to catch copper thieves.

During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West explained the details of Lampkin’s arrest.

West said Lampkin has prior convictions for theft of property, breaking or entering and on drug related charges.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $7,500 bond for Lampkin after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lampkin was not charged with theft pending further investigation. He was told to come back to court July 17.
