A $50,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Buff man accused of slapping and choking his girlfriend, then threatening to kill her while pointing a gun at her.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Corey Jefferson, 37, with aggravated assault on a family or household member and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Jefferson is currently on parole because of a felony drug conviction.
An affidavit from Detective Jason Boykin said on Monday, police were sent to a reported armed disturbance on West 31st Avenue.
Jefferson was located later and when he was questioned, admitted that he and the victim had gotten into an argument but denied pointing a gun at her.
He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Nov. 13
