A $25,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of choking his wife and pushing her down a flight of stairs.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Faheem Calvin, 29, with aggravated assault on a family or household member and third-degree domestic battery.
During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said on Saturday at about 6:30 p.m., police were sent to a house on West 24tn Avenue.
Alexander said Calvin has prior convictions in Michigan and Ohio starting in 2009 for larceny, burglary, robbery and assault.
He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court July 1. He said he would hire his own attorney.
