A $2,500 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man accused of having a gun that had been reported stolen last year.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Davion Sterling, 20, with theft by receiving.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said on Tuesday at 7:48 p.m., police were sent to 1301 W. 40th in response to reported suspicious activity.
When he was questioned, Sterling said he ran after seeing the police because he was scared because he had the gun. He said he bought the gun a couple of months ago “from a guy that’s now in jail.”
Sterling said he would hire his own attorney and was told to come back to court Oct. 4.
