A $15,000 cash only bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of stealing copper wire Saturday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Frederick Wessell, 50, with breaking or entering, fleeing and theft of property.

Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel asked for the cash only bond because Wessell is currently out on bond after being arrested for theft of property on Aug. 11.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Laquincia Smith, Akel said at 3:17 a.m., police responded to a reported burglary in progress.

In addition to the pending charge, Wessell has been convicted of four or more felonies and will be held without bond because of a parole hold by the Department of Corrections.

He was told to come back to court Jan. 17.
