A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man currently on parole on a drug related charge.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Bryan Avants, 49, with possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said on Sunday at 11:57 a.m., an Arkansas State Trooper was southbound on Walnut Street when the trooper saw a white Chevrolet Impala with a license plate that returned to a silver GMC Arcadia.

Akel said the female driver told the trooper the drugs did not belong to her and Avants admitted the drugs were his.

Avants has prior felony convictions and is due to get off parole in July. He was told to come back to court June 2.
