The 89th Miss University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Angelica Perkins, placed 1st place in the annual HBCU Campus Queens competition that is featured in Ebony Magazine every year.

Miss 89th is the third UAPB Queen to represent Golden Lion Country in Ebony Magazine. She received more votes than the other 9 HBCU queens to take the crown once again. She is a Hot Springs, Arkansas native majoring in business finance and has a 3.9 GPA. She participates in numerous UAPB organizations including the Carolyn F. Blakely Honors Program. Perkins has been involved on campus from the beginning of her UAPB journey as a participant in the LIONS (Learning Institute and Opportunities for New Students) Program.

Some of the experiences she’s had as a student at the university includes studying abroad, being an active reign as the 2017 Miss Black and Gold, and director of public relations for the Student Government Association (SGA).
